In Hindsight

As I look back over the last year and reflect on the experiences that have delivered me to this moment, I find myself at somewhat of a loss for words on how to articulate my thoughts.

One thing I can say with certainty is that I’m eternally grateful to all of the incredible humans that have profoundly shifted my perspective and re-jigged my priorities towards what’s truly important in life. In hindsight, when I set out to curate this post my aim was to simply share some of my favourite moments from 2015. This sounded so simple in theory. Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I may have committed to more than I could comfortably chew last year! With customer experience taking top priority, blogging and social media took a backseat.

Looking forward as we welcome 2016, I’d like to make a few things clear – Firstly, I truly love what I do but only because of you. Without my mentors, muses, clients, critics, family and fans it wouldn’t have been the same without you. Secondly, with every year that passes I remind myself of the impermanence in life. Is this the only chance I get? Who really knows? On closing, if this my one chance I’m going to throw everything I have at it and with any luck I’ll better others lives and enrich their experience in the process. I’m not creating images to make money, I’m making money to create the images. The payoff for me is in the experience and the memories we create together in the process.

So without further-adieu, I humbly invite you on little journey through the archives. Hopefully it’ll give you some insight to what I’ve been up to in my virtual absence!

Living A Mountain Life

Banff National Park – Canada

There’s something special about the energy in the mountains. It’s hard to describe and impossible to dismiss a vibe this strong. It’s as if they have the ability to encourage you to zoom out and think about your big picture. Some people find this confronting while others find comfort in the freedom to think. I’ve been lucky enough to call a lot of pretty rad places home, although none I miss more than my years living in the Rockies. These mountains changed me, pushed me to go big and taught me to live with more purpose.

A while back I had the pleasure of hopping a plane to work with Sydney based lifestyle outfitters The Academy Brand in one the most mind blowing environments on the planet, Banff National Park, Canada. My aim was to create an authentic collection of images that embrace everything great about living a mountain life. A massive, massive thanks to local talent Jessie O for bringing your adventurous spirit and infectious smile along for the day. Your attitude and passion towards the preservation and conservation of our earth is not only refreshing, it’s inspiring.

A major source of inspiration behind this collaborative shoot came from our deep appreciation for handcrafted arts

There is something to be said for going bespoke. In a world of mass production, the opportunity to meet the maker of your goods has a unique appeal. Having everything handmade by local artisans became elemental for this shoot!

Another source of inspiration came from our support for same sex marriage rights in Australia and around the globe.  Love is love!
